Recreational Rhythmics
(four years of age and up)
Open to anyone, this is the best way to discover the wonders
of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Recreational Rhythmics is appropriate
for either the beginner or for the athlete who is interested
in a non-competitive environment. The Recreational Rhythmics
program is focused on fun and learning, with the eventual
goal of performing ensemble routines. Gymnasts are guided
through stretching, ballet, dance and rhythmic gymnastics
body technique incorporating the use of rhythmic gymnastics
ropes, hoops, balls and ribbons in harmony with music. This
program is designed to develop fundamental body movements,
basic coordination, concentration, rhythm, and team skills.

Rhythmic Dance Program
(ten years and up)
This program is specially designed for girls 10-16 years
of age who love to dance and who have some previous experience
in rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics or any dance discipline.
Various forms of dance including modern, jazz, hip hop, Latin
and ballet are explored and utilized. This program also incorporates
some of the hand held rhythmic gymnastics apparatus such as
hoops, balls, ribbons as well as some non-typical apparatus
such as hats, canes, chairs, scarves, Chinese Dance Ribbons
and parachutes which augment the specially choreographed dance
routines. This is strictly a "performance based group"
with many opportunities to participate in shows and presentations.
Long-range plans include preparation of a BC Team to participate
at the World Gymnaestrada in 2007 in Austria with the team
being selected from the most consistent participants in this
program.

Competitive National Stream
Program
(Seven years and up)

This program is for identified girls 7 years old and up and prepares them for National and International competitions. Athletes train a minimum of 9 hours per week to a maximum of 25 hours per week (for the most advanced Senior Level athlete). Our students are guided through an intensive warm up complex (emphasizing flexibility, strength and form), body technique and advanced apparatus technique culminating with 4 special and unique routines choreographed for each student. Athletes in this program may compete with Individual and or Group Routines. There is a strong focus on not only the athlete’s physical preparation, but also their mental training program. The Academy works in conjunction with Sports Science experts to assist their athletes in their metal preparation for competitions. Each Academy athlete has her own training and competition goals, which at the end of each season, allows all of our athletes to feel that they have accomplished what they have set out to do. Athletes in this program compete at approximately 4-8 competitions during their season.
